Geotechnical Studies

Using our in-house soil laboratory, geotechnical engineers and technicians, we conducted thousands of boreholes for different projects all over Egypt –from Alexandria to Hurghada. Deep Boreholes are drilled, while disturbed and undisturbed soil samples are collected, and full-scale filed and laboratory tests are conducted on soil/rock. Out of our soil laboratory tests are:
- Atterburg Limits
- Sieve Analysis and Hydrometer
- Soil Classification
- Unconfined Compression Test
- Consolidation 1-D
- Direct Shear Test
- Shrinkage and Swelling, etc.
- R.Q.D.

Our mini-mobile soil laboratory is also available for in-situ testing and that for large scale projects. This includes several in-situ (field) soil tests such as:
- Soil Compaction
- Standard Penetration Test (SPT)
- Cone Penetration Test (CPT) [equipment provided by the contactor]
- Pocket Penetrometer Test, etc.

In addition to soil laboratory testing, SAAB also provide official geotechnical reports that determines the soil bearing capacity, foundation level, and type of foundations required for different types of structures. We also conduct full-scale geotechnical designs for different sub-structures such as deep foundations (i.e., driven piles, drilled shafts), shallow foundations (i.e., spread footings, raft foundations, etc.), and retaining walls (gravity and cantilever walls, diaphragm walls, sheet pile walls, timber walls, etc.). Dewatering systems are also designed in SAAB as well as providing comprehensive drawings, geotechnical reports, method of statement and more. In SAAB, we are capable of conducting design of foundations using the Eurocode 7 and the AASHTO-LRFD specifications, based on the LRFD design technique used in Europe and the US, to reduce the cost of foundations and provide more reliable designs.
